Invest in Solar and earn up to $3,600 per year through Ontario’s microFIT program. Benefit from a guaranteed return on investment with The Grasshopper Advantage.
The province of Ontario launched the Green Energy Act in 2009 with a goal to eliminate coal-fired power plants, create renewable energy jobs, and build a foundation for clean energy in Ontario. Included in this Act was the microFIT (feed-in tariff) program which allows Ontarians to install solar panels on their home and sell the energy back to the local community.
Program ends December 31, 2017.
With the increased contribution of renewable energy, Ontario is able to shut down its last coal plant, making it the first jurisdiction in North America to completely phase out coal.
MicroFIT’s Most successful Year to date! The IESO hit its target to procure 50 MW under MicroFIT which catapulted Canada from 30th to 10th for installed solar capacity added that year.
Due to the success of Ontario’s microFIT program, more provinces are getting on board. Alberta is targeting 30% of electricity generation from renewables. Saskatchewan has a 50% renewable energy target by 2030.
The Government of Canada has set a goal of
being powered by 100% renewable electricity by 2025.
With over 24,000 connections, microFIT has been a
tremendous success. 2017 will be the last year to apply.
• Capacity of 50 Megawatts – (approx. 4000 homes).
