Ontario’s FIT/microFIT Program
The Feed-In-Tariff (FIT) Program was launched after the Green
Energy and Green Economy Act passed into law in May 2009. Run by the
Ontario Power Authority (OPA), the FIT program pays a guaranteed price
under long-term contracts for electricity generated by renewable energy
systems, such as solar power. The FIT program prices are designed to
help participants earn a high rate of return, so they can start making a
profit faster.
The FIT Program is split into two parts:
- microFIT: solar projects 10 kW or less
- FIT: solar projects over 10kW
How does it work?
At Grasshopper Solar, we help you:
- Install a GS SeriesTM solar power system on your roof or land
- Contribute the energy it generates to the electrical grid
- Earn money from the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) through your Local Distribution Company
How much can I earn?
The FIT price depends on the size and type of your system.
