OPA's FIT Program Kicks Off and REA Regulations Come into Force

The Ontario Feed-in-Tariff program was officially launched by the OPA on October 1, 2009, encouraging all residents of Ontario to invest in renewable energy sources. The FIT program will be available for a maximum capacity of 10 MW for solar projects and unlimited capacity for renewable projects such as wind and biomass. In addition to the launch of the FIT program, the Ministry of the Environment released key regulations to the Renewable Energy Approval (REA) amendment under the Environmental Protection Act.
