Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Small Businesses and Tourism) visits Grasshopper Energy Office

On August 16, 2010 the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Small Businesses and Tourism) announced new and exciting opportunities available through Career Focus program under the Small Business Internship Program (SBIP) at Grasshopper Energy headquarters. He was joined at the event by Azeem Qureshi (CEO, GEC), Omer Mir (CIO, GEC), Shamor Paul (VP, Program Development, GEC) and 3 representatives from the University of Waterloo.

Minister of State Moore announced that the Career Focus program will offer 165 additional internships catering, specifically, to post-secondary graduates. As part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, this investment will unleash a ray of internship opportunities for young Canadians with small and medium sized enterprises. Industry Canada encourages these companies to opt for hiring post-secondary student and graduate interns by providing financial support.

Besides an expansion in the job market, one of the programs defining features involves student and graduate interns to engage in e-business projects for emerging businesses. These projects incorporate online marketing tactics that aim to enhance company productivity and competitiveness.

Grasshopper Energy recognizes the Careers Focus as an effective solution that will help recover Canada’s economy and stimulate the young minds of today to impact the events of tomorrow. We are in favour of State Minister Moore’s announcement and look forward to integrating the program within our organization!
