The Government of Ontario launched the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program in November, 2009. The program allows power produced by solar systems to be sold to the grid. The income pays for the system and its operating costs. The remainder of guaranteed earnings are paid to you every month. The power produced by solar power systems is bought back by the government at guaranteed rates for 20 years.
